Cirque du Gavarnie is the Pyrenees most spectacular site, a curved wall of stone that jets straight out of the ground. The photos make it hard to see the scale, but from where we stood at the foot of the cirque to the top is 1500 m (4900 ft). The site is also home to Europe’s tallest waterfall which we were able to hike right beneath. We took the opportunity to do some bouldering at the foot of the cirque. It was pretty breathtaking, truly a wonder of nature.
